Green and Pleasant is a framed artwork exploring the make-up of our landscape and our ability to change and alter its course and composition (both positively and negatively). It is made from a variety of silk fabrics and thread, formed from previously worn clothes and textile offcuts. But from a distance the medium is ambiguous and it is only through careful and close scrutiny that the way it is made becomes clear. The foreground deconstructs the elements and offers a path (and key) to considering the landscape as a whole. The piece seeks to encourage us to analyse what makes up the world around us, how it has become what it is and how we can effect positive change through our intervention.
